All you have to do is spend a few hours with us at the end of the residential training period and we will show you what we have taught your dog and how you can maintain this at home. Dogs need to stay for a minimum of 3 weeks.
Dogs with behavioural problems are also taken but may have to stay longer than the minimum 3 weeks required for basic training.
Fees for Residential Training start at £700.00. Your dog will be assessed during the first week. If a longer period is needed than 3 weeks each extra week will be charged at £200.00.
For all residential training courses it may be necessary to use alternative equipment, eg harnesses and leads. If this is necessary these will be invoiced and should be paid for when your dog is collected at the end of the training course.
At the end of the residential training course you must be prepared to undergo tuition of at least 2 hours to ensure you are able to maintain the high standard of training your dog has received. You will be supplied with a manual giving details of all the training your dog has received, you will be asked to sign an agreement to confirm you will ensure all training is maintained according to the instructions in the manual. Christine Stansfield and her staff can not be held responsible for any break down in behaviour if you have not followed instructions. If you are unable to follow any of the advice given you must contact Christine straight away to discuss an amendment. When you take your dog home at the end of the residential training course Christine will keep regular telephone contact with you to ensure you are happy with day to day management of your dog. If at any time during the three months following the residential training course you are concerned about any aspect of the training you will be invited to attend for one to one training at Thirkleby Manor free of charge. If a home visit is required travelling expenses of 50p per mile are payable.
Canine Behaviour Consultancy - has your dog developed behaviour problem(s) which you don't know how to deal with? Christine will visit you in your own home to observe you with your dog and discuss the behaviour problems your dog has developed. She will then put together a programme for you in order to overcome the problem(s) and help you build a special relationship with your dog.
Behaviour Consultations take approximately 3 hours, it is advised that all adult family members are present to discuss the problems. Prior to the consultation you are advised to make a list of good and bad things about your relationship with your dog and ensure that any scenarios concerning the problem behaviours can be described in full to ensure a clear picture of the problem. It is important that you are truthful about your relationship with your dog and any methods you have used to prevent the unwanted behaviour.
All modification programmes will include reward based training for your dog and may require you to change aspects of your day to day management of the dog. Diet and equipment will be discussed. It may be necessary for veterinary checks to be completed to ensure your dog's behaviour is not due to a physical problem.
